Monthly Lunch Lecture- E Refinery

  • Hall C, 3mE Faculty, TU Delft (map)

Selective reduction and oxidation of (small) organic molecules is of interest in the (electro)catalytic upgrading of biobased (platform) molecules. To understand the fundamental reactions taking place under electrochemical conditions, we studied
the selective oxidation of glycerol on (modified) single-crystal platinum electrodes, and the selective reduction of acetone and other ketones on single-crystal platinum and palladium electrodes. Our results show that the pathways turn out be very sensitive to the structure of the platinum surface, in a way that can be understood by comparison to density functional theory calculations.

Swing by for free lunch and insightful knowledge about the topic in hand.

You need to register (in view of the catering) by sending an email to: e-refinery@tudelft.nl before September 1, 2019.
